Course Overview
This course combines focused lectures, VR-enabled anatomical teaching, supervised cadaveric dissection, and case-based reflection to equip clinicians with practical skills and decision-making frameworks for managing surgical complications in dentoalveolar and implant surgery.

Access to human material in the Anatomy Suite is a significant privilege. The Anatomy Suite is licensed by the Human Tissue Authority (HTA) – Anatomy sector, license no 12547. All users and visitors must adhere to this code. Any breaches may result in university disciplinary procedures and may be a criminal offence.

- Consent: Honour the wishes of the donor at all times.
- Dignity: Uphold the dignity of the donor and maintain confidentiality.
- Quality: Handle all cadaveric specimens with care and respect.
- Honesty & Openness: Be honest and open in all interactions.
Conduct in the Anatomy Suite
- No unauthorised visitors permitted.
- No photography or electronic images without prior permission.
- No mobile phones, tablets or laptops in the dissection room.
- Do not remove any human tissue from the licensed premises.
Health & Safety
- Appropriate PPE must be worn at all times.
- No open shoes or sandals; tie back long hair.
- No food, drink, bags or coats in the dissection room.
- Leave your work area clean and wash hands before leaving.
Maximising Your Experience
What to Bring
- Bring your loupes or headlights.
- Protective clothing (theatre scrubs) will be provided.
- Wear closed-toe shoes for the cadaveric dissection.
- Strict no photography or mobile phone policy in the anatomy lab.
- Please notify the course lead of any allergies or dietary requirements in advance.
Lunch and refreshments will be supplied throughout the course. A vending machine is available and Costa Coffee is located in the hospital opposite the Leggett Building.

- Car parks on campus are shown in purple on the campus map.
- Pay-and-display parking is available near the Leggett Building.
- A pay-and-display car park is also available at the hospital located opposite.
